Erin's Law

Erin's Law requires all public schools in South Carolina to implement age appropriate personal body safety instructions.

August – September

Building a Strong Start

We begin the school year by helping students build the skills they need to feel confident, connected, and ready to learn. Through age-appropriate discussions and activities, students will explore communication, empathy, honesty, self-awareness, self-discipline, and self-management while learning positive ways to express themselves and navigate everyday situations.

October – November

Working Together

During these months, students will focus on building healthy relationships and learning how to work well with others. Topics include collaboration, teamwork, managing conflict, relationship skills, self-direction, and bullying awareness and prevention. Students will explore positive choices that help create safe, respectful, and supportive school communities.

December – January

Growing with Purpose

Students will explore skills that encourage responsibility, independence, and confidence. Lessons will introduce concepts such as organization, respect, responsibility, self-awareness, insight, and age-appropriate career development while encouraging students to recognize their strengths and think about their goals.

February – March

Character in Action

These months focus on the character traits that help students make thoughtful choices and positively impact those around them. Students will explore compassion, courage, integrity, responsibility, critical thinking, and kindness while discovering ways to put these qualities into practice at school and in their everyday lives.

April – May

Leading, Connecting & Growing

As the school year comes to a close, students will explore skills that encourage leadership, connection, and positive participation in their communities. Topics include adaptability, advocacy, citizenship, initiative, integrity, and leadership, helping students reflect on how they can use their voice, choices, and strengths in positive ways.

Erin’s Law

Personal Body Safety

In accordance with Erin’s Law, students receive age-appropriate personal body safety education. Lessons are designed to help children understand personal boundaries, recognize safe and unsafe situations, identify trusted adults, and learn that they can speak up when something does not feel right.
